The BBC Won't Replace Chris Evans On Top Gear
Since Chris Evans announced his resignation from Top Gear after just one series at the helm, speculation as to whom his replacement might be has been rife. We wondered if the BBC might not replace him at all, and it seems that’s the case.
Speaking to the Evening Standard, a BBC spokeswoman confirmed that: “We have no immediate plans to replace Chris Evans and do not expect to do so going forward….Series 24 starts filming in September.” She also said that Evans made the decision by himself, and that the Corporation “fully respects his decision.”
So, assuming this stance doesn’t change, what happens next? Our expectation is that Matt LeBlanc will take over as main host, with the departure of Evans giving more screen time to Chris Harris and Rory Reid - something which will please a hell of a lot of viewers.
Announcing the news via Twitter on Monday, Evans said that he “gave it my best shot but sometimes that’s not enough”. The resignation came amidst news of the 50-year-old being investigated by the Metropolitan Police for a historical sexual assault claim.

Not the news I really wanted to wake up to….Here’s my theory, short and sweet: TopGear is like a road that was once nice, and smooth flowing, in the middle of March( for the Southwestern Americans). New TopGear is a God awful road on the south side, but still had its good bits. However, with the removal of Evans, the road has been given a new layer of asphalt, also a new scenery, a winding road through the mountains. BUT, with Evans not being replaced, there is still that one, BIG, GAPING pothole, that you know can be fixed,but you can never avoid.
Now all they have to do is make the studio segments feel less scripted. Harris and Reed tend to do a good job as it is, since they share their feelings about cars and they’re actually funny guys, but Matt needs some work. Going forward, they could really revitalize the series I think.
The reason that they won’t replace him is:
There is nobody in this world who is as shouty as Evans Aka. The Clarkson wannabe.
Yeah but when Clarkson shouted it was funny when Evans did it sounded like nails on a chalk board lol
