Aston Martin's Blingtastic New 60th Anniversary Vanquish Has Beautifully Machined Engine Parts In Its Cabin
It’s been 60 years since cars started rolling off the production line at Aston Martin Works in Newport Pagnell, and Aston has decided to mark the occasion, even though all its cars are now produced at Gaydon. And it’s doing so using our favoured method: posh limited-edition motors. Six bespoke models will be produced, starting with this 60th Anniversary Vanquish Volante.
With gold (Aston calls it ‘Anniversary Yellow’) wheels and gills, it’s not what you’d call subtle, but we can forgive it that for the exquisite interior detailing it’s packing. See the fancy metal controls below? In these limited-edition cars, they’re cast from metal which once formed a piston from a classic Aston. The pistons came from a DB2/4, DB5, three different 80s and 90s V8 models, and an original Vanquish. But don’t panic, the parts were taken from Aston lumps undergoing rebuilds, so no engines were harmed in the making of these beautiful little things.
Performance is unchanged from the regular Vanquish, although that’s hardly an issue when you have a 576bhp 6.0-litre V12 at your disposal as standard.
Prices for these six new Astons are “on application,” although a hefty premium over the standard £204,995 Volante is to be expected.
