As an engineering achievement, the Aston Martin DBX707 is a pretty impressive thing. The way the 2.2-tonne SUV can shift around corners while also simultaneously blowing your mind how fast it can accelerate is no small achievement. It has, however, always lacked in one key area - but that’s about to change.

Aston Martin has given the interior of the DBX707 a complete makeover, taking it from something that couldn’t live up to its £200,000 price tag that now looks pretty special.

Its biggest upgrade comes in the infotainment system, swapping out a laggy old Mercedes-based system for a new 10.25-inch unit as found in the DB12. There’s also a fresh 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster.

Handily, the software now features wireless support for Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, plus a handful of USB-C ports if you’d rather connect with a cable.

Fortunately, Aston hasn’t decided to go too far in its overhaul and launch all the controls into the touchscreen system. Physical buttons remain for the climate system, drive mode change and pretty much every other key function for that matter.

Sadly, steering wheel functions are now mostly touch-sensitive though scroll wheels at least remain for volume and cruise control settings.

Other changes to improve the interior design include redesigned door handles and panels, plus new air vents. You’ll also now get a 14-speaker, 800W audio system as standard. Alternatively, you can opt for a Bowers & Wilkins 23-speaker, 1,600W system.

Changes elsewhere to the DBX707 are pretty minimal. There are five new paint colours to pick from, plus two finishes for the 23-inch wheels. Door handles now pop out when the car is unlocked, and redesigned door mirrors now see the whole assembly move rather than just the glass within.

Performance remains the same with 697bhp and 664lb ft of torque from a 4.0-litre twin-turbocharged V8. Sent to all four wheels through a nine-speed auto with a wet clutch, 0-62mph is still covered in 3.1 seconds and with a 193mph top speed.

No word yet on pricing for the new Aston Martin DBX707, but we’d anticipate somewhere slightly north of £200,000 once it goes on sale ahead of the summer.
