Considering price, quality, warranty, customer service AND the fact that I use my tools for light personal use only… I prefer Mastercraft Maximum.
Maximum makes good gloves…
As someone who sells craftsman, I would say the basic hand tools are craftsman (like ratchets, sockets, ect) just purely based on the fact that all hand tools have a unlimited lifetime warranty, which unlike snap-on you can return and replace immediately. When your moving up to more industrial tools like pneumatics, craftsman isnt bad, but I would probably go with snap-on. Husky isnt bad either, but I don’t think they have as much of a range as the others, and harbor freight is cheap for a reason, good for needs in a pinch, but they wont last.
I broke three Husky sockets and a ratchet in two minutes…
I’ve never broken Snap-On or Mac Tools. The Snap-On guy replaces things no questions asked, and probably the Mac guy too, but I’ve never been able to break their tools to find out…
Craftsman, I break one in every four Craftsman tools… Always a nice warranty, though.
Facom is by far one of the best. You buy these tools for life, if a spanner breaks for example you send it in and you get a free replacement. They are expensive though, for this reason.
But if you don’t have an unlimited budget I would buy Tekton tools. Very high quality for the price, you get a lot for your money. I bought a ratchet set including 1/4”, 1/2” and 3/8” ratchets + sockets with a range from 6 to 30 fitting the ratchets. Not all sizes for every size of ratchet, but then you wouldn’t use a 10mm socket on a 1/2” ratchet… Oh and the set also included a screwdriver to fit 1/4” sockets and a breaker bar. All that for 75$ (in discount on amazon).
I also own two sets of spanners from Tekton, long ones and short ones. And I am really pleased with those and the ratchet set. I bought all my Tekton tools trough Amazon but I imagine you can get them in tool shops in the USA aswell, since the company is from America.
So yeah, if you want tools that offer great value for money I recommend those. Don’t know how they will perform when used professionaly, no experience with that, but for the keen hobbyist they do nicely.
None of those are in the states
If you need a tool you’re only going to use once, go to harbor freight. Otherwise you can get a crescent mechanics tools set on Amazon for $120.
Never had a problem with harbor freight but never used any wrenches just impact sockets
I buy basically all my tools at Harbor Freight. Everything from air tools, to jacks, socket sets, wrenches, engine cranes, you name it. You cannot beat the quality for the price.
