Temporary fix for a squealing belt.

Can’t find the adjustment for belt tension? Can’t afford a replacement belt right now?

While the vehicle is running lightly press a stick of tire marker (tire chalk) against the ribbed side of the belt. This isn’t a permanent fix but if the belt is the part causing the noise this will shut it up for a while.

Personally, I always found that a can of belt stop squeak (relatively inexpensive and can be found anywhere) works pretty well. My Ram has a crap idler pulley that causes squeak on startup and the stop squeak does a good job of eliminating that for the time being.

What about using a bar of soap on the belt while it runs?
