Does anybody know why the McLaren P1 was only made left hand drive?

It makes no sense at all to me considering McLaren are a British company. Even Pagani (Italian) and Koenigsegg (Swedish) make their cars right hand drive so why didn’t Mclaren with the P1?

A McLaren spokesman has said, ‘It is common for models in this sector to be only offered left-hand drive. A business analysis was carried out, and the costs involved with producing the P1 in both configurations would have been prohibitive to the project, and it was decided that these costs would be better channelled into research and development. I am not aware of any resistance from customers who have viewed the car so far.’

I had a feeling it would come down to costs

In addition, and most importantly, the majority of the customers that have bought this drive on the right hand side of the road.

That’s very true, but there’s a fair few P1’s in the UK and Asian countries that drive on the left I believe

Well I don’t know the reason they did it but it isn’t the first time a British car manufacturer has done that. If you remember Aston Martin has also done that with the DBS.
