1972 Audi 100 LS C1
I picked this car up on 9-1-2016.
Since I recently got my license, it was time to find my first car, however after weeks of tossing around different ideas, I was absolutely stuck. Some of the options were a BMW E30 Touring, Mazda Miata, Nissan 200SX (although over budget).
At some point my dad showed me an Audi 100 Avant CC, which looked kinda cool, so I wanted to see more of it. Then I came across this, a project car. Which is perfect because I want to learn a lot more about cars.
The car came complete with all the parts, except for a few I have noticed are missing: exhaust, windshield wipers and the gaspedal. But all the extremely hard to find parts, like the trim behind the rear side windows, and the grill are there. Those would have probably cost me twice as much as I paid for the car now.
It runs and drives, although it needs a battery.
The bodywork has seen better days, but it is al fixable without having to buy new parts, which is a huge deal, since parts for these are generally even less common than those of Audi 100 Coupe S parts.
The overall goal is to go for an as original as possilbe restauration, with plans for getting it bagged and on some different shoes by the time I can spend that kind of money on it.
Basic specs of the car:
Audi 100 LS
1972
1800cc Four Cylinder
4 speed manual on the steering column
Front wheel drive
The to-do list for the car is as follows:
- Redo brake lines, fuel lines. brakes and rebuild the engine
- Reweld the crappy rust repairs
- Repair the other rust
- Remove dents from trunk lid, hood and roof
- Reinstall the sunroof
- Prepare the car for paint and get it painted
- Recondition the trim and install it
- Recondition the interior (The interior is in perfect shape except for one little tear in the drivers side leather.
Now this is a huge list, and it will take my quite a while to complete, which means I have all the time in the world to keep updating CT of the progress made.
Luckily I have a lot of friends and family who are into cars or anything related who can help me with this project.
Thank you for reading this, and follow my profile if you want to see the progress!

I see only the main image ended up in the post, so here is the rest:
These classic Audis are quickly becoming really rare, even in Germany. Good luck with your project, I hope one day it will turn out as you wanted :)
Yeah I read up on these before I even considered buying it, and it became evident that these are gettin really rare. My grandfather had some info on these as well, saying they were often used in dirt racing (which doesn’t have non-contact rules) or were stripped of their solid rear axle to make trailers with, so a lot have not survived.
The fact that I came across this one was pure luck, so I immediately jumped to the oppurtunity to own one.
I tried to find another one for sale, with no luck at all, all throughout Europe not a singe two-door sedan.
Mooi ding nie?
Jij kunt het weten, jij was er bij
That’s a beauty! And in good hands. Good luck with restoration. :)
Thank you
gorgeous headlamps
I love them! In my opinion they suit the car better than the facelift headlights.
These are the worst problems that aren’t related to bodywork:
Cracked Dash and a single tear, in all of the interior.
Exciting announcement!
While rubbing away some of the dirt under the hood today, I found a little plaque. See for yourself why this is so great:
Klein wereldje.
That’s awesome ! Good luck on your build !
Thanks!
hi there!
nice car you are working on, i got a 100 ls -73 and totally love these cars…
gonna follow and see you progress on restoring=)….
You are the first person I’ve met here that also owns a 100LS. Or any Audi of this generation. I’ll be sure to post on any progress. Right now the progress has grinded to a halt, since another project has to be finished first: my daily driver. After that all free weekends and after-school hours will be spent on getting the Audi done.
