My experience going to a car meet for the first time...

It was a Saturday morning today when I was driving my mom’s Honda Accord LX to the gym, and I saw a couple of Chargers, some Mustangs, and a Focus RS yielding to turn left in a go-kart place parking lot. The first thing I wondered was if there was a car meet going on. I continued driving to the gym. When I finished excercising at the gym, I decided to go to the go-kart place to see if these was actually a car meet going on, and it turned out that I was right; there was indeed a car meet taking place. I wondered if I should see what was going on there, or if I should just mind my own business and go back home. But I decided to stop by and enter the car meet. I parked the Accord at a parking lot a little further away from the meet, and began walking towards the go-kart place.

I was greeted with a Cayman GT4 singing its way out of the car meet with its N/A flat six. I fulfilled a little “car guy” goal I had for a while, which was to go to a car meet. I’ve been to a car show before, but I’ve never been to a car meet before. In a way, it was a bit more informal sort to speak compared to the car show I went yesterday. I was seeing cars ranging from ‘60s Mopars to modified Fairlady Zs to brand new LC 500s. I then began taking many pictures of special cars I found there. As I was taking pictures, I noticed how I was being rather shy there. I didn’t really interact with the guys at the meet.

I was looking at a white NA1 NSX there, and it seemed that the owner was around it. I was telling myself to talk to him (“Come on! You really like the NSX, at least talk to the owner!”), but my introverted side decided to hold me back. My excuse would’ve been that he was busy with other people. So to counteract my shyness, I gave the owner a thumbs up as he began to drive away from the meet in the NSX, and he waved back. I thought that I should do a little more than that, and try to talk to some people there.

As I reached the other end of the parking lot, I decided to have a little conversation with a guy with an Avanti II. I thought I would ask him some questions about it since it was something I’ve never seen before. It turned out that the guy who owned the car had a father that helped designed it. Amazing, no? I learned certain things about it, such as how it powered by a Chevy 350, and that it was supposed to be the car that would save the company from bankrupt. It was really a interesting car, and I’m glad that I got to learn about it.

I’ve also talked with a guy with a single turbo 370Z, and I thought I would talk with the owner of a Frozen Blue E92 M3 before I left the meet.

So how did I like this meet? I thought it was pretty cool, but I might’ve enjoyed it even more if I had a friend along with me. I didn’t really know anyone there so it was a little bit awkward for me. Rather than just taking pictures of cars at that meet, I thought I should talk a little bit with the people there as well. It was my first time going to a car meet, so I thought I did a pretty good job there for my first time going to a car meet. If more car meets happen at that location, I’ll probably stop by there again and have more conversations there compared to this time. All in all it was a nice experience, especially for my first time at a car meet. Anyways here are some pictures:

It’s probably the cleanest 86 I’ve ever seen.

Yea, that looks awesome… Wish i could experience something like that, problem is, i live in North Carolina. All we have here is ricers, muscle cars, and redneck coal rollers with tiny wangs, i have yet to see any good import on the road… Only in ORGANIZED and SPONSORED car shows have i seen British import.
