Karter Hurls Bodywork At Competitor On Live Track, Then Starts Parc Ferme Brawl
The FIA-CIK Karting World Championship final in Lonato, Italy has gained media attention worldwide for all the wrong reasons. It all started with a collision between Paolo Ippolito and Luca Corberi - this forced the latter into the barriers, which the 23-year-old clearly didn’t take kindly to.
The Italian driver walked up to the edge of the still-live race track and hurled the nose cone of the stricken kart at his fellow countryman. Thankfully, it seems this reckless act didn’t injure anyone.
What’s interesting is earlier footage of Corberi recovering its kart shows that the front fairing was still attached. Either it came off while the vehicle was being retrieved, or the part was ripped off especially for Corberi’s ill-advised act of revenge. Following the incident, the karter was seen wandering around the infield, ignoring the directions of the track’s marshals.
He wasn’t finished there, either - another video has emerged showing Corberi attacking Ippolito in parc ferme, with the man in the black hoodie charging into the brawl said to be Luca’s father. It’s worth pointing out that the Corberi family owns South Garda Karting, which manages Lonato circuit.
According to the FIA-CIK’s race results document, Corberi was disqualified for his actions, as was Ippolito for causing the crash which sparked this unfortunate series of events. It’s unclear if there’ll be further sanctions for Corberi - that document aside, the FIA-CIK hasn’t commented on the situation.
Prominent figures from across the motorsport world - including 2009 F1 champion Jenson Button - have called for a lifetime ban from karting for Corberi and his father.

If you do that to someone in public, you would almost certainly be facing charges for assault or battery.
And yet I can’t help but shake the feeling that because this happened at an event under FIA jurisdiction, he wont face any consequences beyond what the FIA see fit to hand down.
In any case, he’s 23 and only at a karting level. Unless this is only his second year in formal karting competition (which is highly unlikely considering his family owns the circuit) he will never have a paid seat in any racecar. This guy simply isnt good enough to be missed in motorsport, so the FIA might as well make an example of him and do what Jensen Button is calling for, ban him from all FIA competition for life.
This guy needs to be suspended for a while before hes allowed back after anger management lessons!

That shows how pathetic the racer’s anger management skill is (not that all racers had a pathetically poor anger management skills). That guy actually could’ve just walk away when the idiotic rival driver dumped/crashed into him, instead of showing their temper tantrum like a typical NASCAR driver by throwing stuff into the guy who dumped him . That costs him dearly - he’s gonna be banned to go racing forever and he’s putting the dent on his family’s name. That sure is a huge shame, especially because this is European motorsport world we’re talking about. A pair of Italian go-kart racers goes all-Dixie (a term for people from Southern US) .

This kinda reminds me of a video from an Indonesian motorcycle road racing event dated back from 2017 , where one of the riders who participating in the race was dumped by another rider until he fell off from his motorbike. Then the rider was so furious that he picked a sandbag that was used as the track’s barrier, waited for the a-hole who dumped him to come around and throw that sandbag towards him, causing the other rider to fell off the bike as well, presumably the rider who dumped him earlier. And then the rider picked up a fight.
