If You're Transgender Or Short, You're Not Allowed To Drive In Russia

As you’ll have gathered from the very many dashcam videos that come out of the country, Russian roads are far from the safest in the world. It’s not surprising, then, that the Russian government wants to do something about it. However, the course of action the Kremlin has settled upon is both deplorable and downright bizarre. It’s been decided that transgender drivers will no longer qualify for a driving license, because they apparently have a “medical condition.”

That’s just a small part of a ludicrously long list of people who won’t be allowed behind the wheel any more. People with sexual fetishes also fall under the new rules, as well as compulsive thieves, gambling addicts and anyone under four-foot 11-inches. Unsurprisingly, the move has been condemned by many, including the Association of Russian Lawyers for Human Rights, who branded the new laws as “discriminatory.”
