BMW’s M Performance parts division wastes no time these days. Whenever a new BMW is launched, a press release detailing a wide range of go-faster M bits follows mere hours later.

And so it is with the 2-series Gran Coupe. The 1-series-based niche-filler has only just been revealed, and already, BMW is showing off a version with every conceivable M Performance component affixed.

All of the usual M boxes are ticked. As a kick-off, we have new kidney grilles, a boot spoiler and badging, all finished in high-gloss black. To further spruce up the rear, there’s the option of stainless steel tailpipe ‘finishers’ complete with bits of titanium and carbonfibre. If you fancy, it’s also possible to switch the standard plastic mirror caps for a pair of carbonfibre equivalents.

M Performance offers a whole bunch of different wheelsets for the 2-series GC. From left to right in the above image, we have the 18-inch Jet Black 554 M, the 18-inch Y-spoke 711 M in Ferric Gray, and finally the 19-inch double-spoke, two-tone 555 M.

Anyone after more stopping power can spec an M Performance braking system to sit just behind the fancy new rims. The setup features bigger ventilated and perforated discs, along with - of course - red-painted brake calipers. Worth 5bhp, at least.

So the cabin reflects any changes you’ve made to the outside, BMW will happily flog you a part-Alcantara-clad M Performance steering wheel. If the part’s carbon trim pieces don’t satisfy your CF cravings, you can team the wheel up with shifters coated in a “carbonfibre fabric”. The finishing touch for the cabin is a set of M floor mats.

Reaction to the way the 2-series Gran Coupe looks has been mixed so far, but is it any easier on the eye with all this stuff attached? Let us know in the comments.

Can someone tell me what the appeal of AMG-packs, Audi RS-packs and BMW M-pcks is? Or rather, why they have to mark it as “M-pack”… why not just sell them as seperate options and stop milking their motorsport division?

The factory way of putting and M/AMG/S/RS badge on a non-M/AMG/S/RS car.

I’ll try to do my best from Brazilian perspective, a new M3 here is about 500k which is like 40 years of FULL minimum wage for that ,so it’s a millionaire’s car. Non M cars are 1/5 of that and a lot more attainable, so you have a sportier looking car that you can dream about buying at least, because a new M3 is not a rich or well employed car here, it’s really just for a very few. Now in countries where you can actually plan to buy a M3 If you have a reasonable salary, it’s really harder to understand, maybe some people just want the looks. Well it sells so that’s why they make it in the end.

You know, I WAS kinda worried I would like the new 2 series more than the M240 I pulled the trigger on last year….Now (save for the interior) I am not.

Am I the only one who thinks that this is the laziest BMW design ever? I mean, the whole rear end looks like if designers decided to cut and paste the X4 design on a 1 series.

I don’t understand why they need 4 door versions of every single car. Next thing you know a i8 Gran Coupe is going to happen

Looks like a Kia, which doesn’t mean Kias are bad, but in this case it makes BMW look bad and Kia look good
