We Finally Have A Teaser Of The Next BMW Roadster

It’s not much, but BMW has finally issued a teaser for the car that will replace the Z4 Roadster.

It’s been under development for a long time, now, in partnership with Toyota, and while much of the publicity has fallen on the Japanese side with the car almost guaranteed to be reviving the Supra name, the only talking points on BMW’s version have been intriguing question marks over what exactly the convertible will be called.

We’re told it won’t be the Z5 after all, but apparently Z4 isn’t a certainty either, after the outgoing (and slightly podgy) one sort of blew the fun-to-drive image previous generations had earned.

Now there’s something else to chew on, though, with this kinda-1980s silhouette. The acute angles of the windscreen and what could be buttresses behind the two seats make it look low and flat in proper concept sports car fashion.

It all looks a bit like a reinvention of KITT the Corvette for another attempt at a Knight Rider remake. Much as we’re all in favour of that, we’re fairly sure this is an early-stage drawing and might not be that close to the finished article anyway, especially when comparing it to the shapes of the camouflaged test mules we’ve seen in action.
