Watch A 'Water Rocket Trike' Hit 62mph in Half A Second
François Gissy - famed for riding a jet-powered bicycle at 207mph - has managed to do 0-62mph in 0.55 seconds using nothing but water
You might have heard of François Gissy before. Three years ago, the Frenchman and former bus driver did 207mph on a jet-powered pushbike, and now he’s followed that up by doing 162mph on a trike powered by nothing but rainwater. How green is that?
An aluminium tank holding 35 litres ejected the water at 6000PSI, launching the home-made trike from rest to 62mph in just 0.55 seconds. In the process, Gissy pulled 5.1g. And somehow managed to avoid soiling himself.
The trike is a mish-mash of parts from various sources, featuring the front forks from a motorbike and wheels from a go-kart, among other things. All it requires for speed is a little water, and a rider with balls made from adamantium.
