A snow plough driver in Utah somehow survived a 300-foot drop after being pushed off a road in Spanish Fork Canyon.

The accident happened last Thursday (ignore the incorrect date stamp on the video), when a truck driver attempted to pass the plough on the right, clipping it in the process. Snow plough driver Terry Jacobson - who’s worked for the Utah Department of Transport (UDOT) for 23 years - was left seriously injured, but thankfully alive.

The truck driver meanwhile has been cited for various various infractions including improper passing. According to a UDOT spokeperman quoted by CNN, he claimed to have been “temporarily blinded” by the plough’s wash and wasn’t able to see where he was going.

UDOT release the video above - along with the statement below - with the hope of it reminding drivers to be cautious around its ploughs.

“When driving near plows, give them at least 200 feet of space, never try and pass them, and don’t cut in front of them. Remember, they’re there to make the roads safer for you.”

I sincerely hope the driver recovers fully and my sympathy to him and his family, but there is also a great joke to be made about him knowing what it feels like to plow your mom.

While the crash itself was a bit laughable, this was a tragic accident indeed. Its a miracle the driver survived, and I hope he recovers soon and is able to get back to work.

This has been happening frequently. They just put out a notice to make room for plows. Like it really shouldn’t be an issue but common sense is hard to come by, especially with drivers in Utah.

I ate truck drivers because they constantly do things like this. Just to cut a few seconds of their travel time they risk others lives. The other day I was on the Autobahn passing at a moderate speed on the left lane (speed limit 130) A truck driver on the middle lane going maybe 85-95km/h and me going 135 maybe decided it would be great to check his side mirror (I saw him check , I saw his face !! He saw me) and his truck was just 1-2 meters ahead of me but on the other lane , so what does he do: indicate and immediately pull onto my left lane, at the time he started moving onto my lane i was already at the middle of his truck length. And then he honked like it was my fault.. and not once.. no he rge honked trice. I could have been crushed between him and the Rail. I always pass trucks at lower speeds so that I have time to react, because they do db sit all the time, theres no end to it. If you travel 600-700km on the Autobahn be prepared for around 4-5 occurrences where a truck endangers you or forces you to do very hard braking.
