This Valet Parker Was Completely Baffled By A Ford Fiesta ST’s Manual Gearbox

Despite insisting he knows how to drive a manual gearbox, this young detailer's assistant makes numerous amusing errors while trying to move a Fiesta ST before finally giving up and letting his boss finish the job

Despite a little crunching going on, the uploader mentioned that no damage was done to the car, and clarified that he is “not pissed about this.” We can only assume the employee exaggerated his ability to drive a manual gearbox’d car when applying for the job.

Our favourite thing about the video - other than the gentle classical music in the background adding an extra touch of hilarity - is the excuse he drops at the 2min 9sec mark…

This used to happend to me everytime i left my car at a parking. I own a Mercedes 190e 16v with a dogleg. Each time i told them 1st gear is down and left. They act like smartasses and then i hear my gearbox breaking apart -.- No more valet parkers for me..

Did they accidentally put it into reverse rather than first gear countless times? James May can vouch for the dog leg confusing drivers..

That is 100% true last year somebody tried to steal my dads car and they broke the window and got in but weren’t able to drive it away because his car is a manual.

Can somebody please explain to me what’s so hard about pressing the clutch in, shifting the stick into gear and then slowly letting go off the clutch while giving a little bit of gas.

Have you ever tried to drive a car that has manual everything and even the clutch works by levers instead of cables or hydraulics.
This fiesta has power and smooth everything so why is it so hard?

Driving a manual for the first time is not easy at all. However, in this case he didn’t even need to use a gas pedal at all. Putting it in a gear and releasing the clutch slowly was everything he was supposed to do.

The thing is that guy doesn’t know how to drive a manual because in his mind he though a semi-auto was a manual that’s why when he got into the manual car he was shifting to 2nd/4th to reverse…..

well, it’s because he is from the USA, don’t get me wrong, is just that if you grew up and your parents and everyone around you had autos, it would be pretty hard to learn that as an adult… over here, even a 5 years old knows where is every gear because he has seen people driving manuals… fast forward to 10 years old and there are dads already teaching kids how to actually drive, they just need to reach the pedals

My god. The dumbest valet driver ever. I won’t trust him if I wanted a Skyline over by me.
