This Three-Way Fast Audi Drag Race Is Consumer Journalism Done Right
Audi has become a bit of a drag race specialist of late, thanks to the latest versions of its quattro four-wheel drive and pretty monstrous power outputs. To find out which fast Audi is the, err, fastest Audi, the man-children from Top Gear magazine took three of them to the handy runway at Dunsfold Aerodrome for a race.
Obviously, if you need your Audi to be fast then you probably want the fastest one there is, so this is valid consumer journalism. Or something.
The short and entirely predictable video is nonetheless good fun to watch, as the R8 V10 Plus goes wheel to wheel with the RS6 Avant and the S8. All have around 600bhp, but vary wildly in weights. The most notable outcome is that, after an earlier Audi-centric drag race we told you about, the RS6 yet again raises a few eyebrows with its staggering pace off the line. Grab a drink, sit back and enjoy.

heavy panting
Like three brothers fighting for the TV remote controller….
All I can hear is the R8’s engine. That thing is so loud!
The S8 is surprising, I was expecting above 4 seconds.
S8 official 0-60 time is 3.3 seconds. The RS6 should have taken at least 3.6 but the predictions are wrong. But S8 was pretty overpredicted too…
Did one tailgate each other?
Holy cow, just imagine that one huge test circle full of audis all tailgating eachother
I’m so surprised
Monste/RS.
We really do live in a golden age of exciting cars; imagine telling someone 50 years ago that you could one day buy an estate with 600bhp
So wait…
The GTR Top gear tested made a 11.0 s quarter mile and this RS6 made a 11.5s quarter mile. Yet in the famous GTR vs RS6 drag race, the RS6 just takes off and beats the GTR by 2 car lengths. It doesn’t add up. Somebody failed to launch either the RS6 or GTR.
Wow ! A drag race in a video less than 10 min ! That’s what we want !
