These Seventies 'Ring Crashes Prove The Green Hell Has Always Wrecked Street Cars
Filming amateurs crashing at the Nurburgring is certainly not a new phenomenon
Recently we featured a video showing 8 minutes of crashes at the Nurburgring. The video highlighted how dangerous and demanding The Green Hell is. As this video from the seventies proves though, filming people wreck their rides at the 'Ring isn't a recent phenomenon.
This footage comes from a track day in the seventies, when safety was a minor consideration. It's a striking example of how far car safety has come, as a wide variety of cars and bikes lose control. Soft suspension contributes to a terrifying number of rollovers, and the lack of seatbelts result in occupants getting ejected from their cars.
The incredible thing is that everyone walks away. Perhaps it's true that people were made of sterner stuff back then...
