A new coachbuilding company is in town, SV Motor Cars. We've seen a lot of Corvette-based conversions from companies like N2A Motors with it's 789 and recently-added Anteros. You probably know the drill by now - Corvette basis, changed bodywork, new name, high price tag. This one is a bit different though.

It's name is.....9 Competizione. Sound familiar to a certain Italian sportscar we've been fawning over? Nah, it couldn't be.

Apparently it can! I see more than a bit of the 8C Competizione back there. "Italian Blood, American Heart" is their tagline. So it definitely is good looking in the rear. The front looks like they're still going for a look similar to the 8C but it isn't as exact in it's replication.

The price for other Corvette conversions has been quite steep. For instance, the Anteros Corvette conversion sells for around $150,000. A 9 Competizione can be yours for $99,995, undercutting that by some $50,000.  SV Motor Cars says they are limiting the production run of the 9 Competizione to 1000 units.

In addition to bodywork changes, some substantive improvements are included as well. The 9 Competizione sheds 132 pounds in comparison to the Corvette's curb weight and also sports some improvements to the suspension and braking.

One thing I like about SV Motor Cars - the vehicles are being sold turn key. SV Motor Cars purchases the Corvette of your choice and then converts it. Who would want to go buy a Corvette and then have it converted? I've always thought that was a complicated (and not very fun) way of doing it.  So it seems as if the 9 Competizione is a great deal compared to all the other Corvette conversions out there. I'd like to hear your comments on it - what do you think, did SV Motor Cars do a good job?
