This Is Our First Look At BMW's 435-Mile EV Concept
BMW has confirmed a new, pure electric car concept for a reveal later this year. The project currently dubbed iNext will be renamed in line with BMW’s ‘Vision’ structure, but here’s what we know so far.
This is your first teaser. It carefully avoids giving away any hints as to its true body style; it could be a shooting brake but it’s likelier to be an SUV. This one is being developed alongside an ‘i4’ electric saloon concept, so a high-riding body style seems the obvious one to go for.
The iNext will have a driving range of 435 miles, apparently, when it makes production in 2021. Naturally it will be brimful of Internet-connected systems and mid-level autonomous driving capability for part-time hands-free trundling.
BMW is planning 25 electrified models by 2025, 12 of which will be pure EVs. Every model line will be electrified in some way. The iNext’s technology will even benefit Rolls-Royce and Mini, so the next few years in Munich, Goodwood and Oxford should be very interesting indeed.
Comments
The windows are basically shaped like the front grille of a Kia
Kia: “Hey BMW, can I have Albert Biermann for making a hot hatch?”
BMW: “Ok, but don’t make it RWD or AWD. And, I want something from you too.”
Kia: “What is it?”
BMW: “We want to make our kidneys look like the tiger nose.”
Kia: “You can use it but not in the front.”
BMW: “Ok then, got it.”
The kidney grille is just keep getting bigger and bigger and bigger. Sooner and later, they might outpace Lexus in the “who got the biggest grille” game. XDDD
Soon BMWs will just have a single stripe through the middle of the front end because the kidneys both take up their own half of the car lol
The top part of the i4’s kidney grille is starting to look like nostrils
That front “grille” thing…
“435 Miles”
I bet the production-ready version of the iNext will be iNow
I’d love an electric shooting brake!
It’s so sad that cars in the future (even near future) won’t have actual engines. But I’ll remember
Replace the i3 with this BMW. Please
