The Milan Red Is A 1325bhp, 249mph Hypercar… From Austria

New supercar maker Milan Automotive has just launched this, the 1325bhp Red, and the crazy Austrians behind it have even made it rear-wheel drive…

Normally, wherever the top line of a car’s description features a four-figure power output, four turbochargers and the ability to nudge 250mph, you’d bet it was a Bugatti, or a Koenigsegg. Not a hitherto unheard-of but obviously quite insane brand of car from the very centre of the rule-following universe: Austria.

We mean that in the nicest way possible. We love Austria; it’s a beautiful country only spoiled slightly by an extremely zealous police attitude to speeding. It’s partly for that reason that we’ve been knocked sideways by the launch of this 1325bhp, 1300kg Austrian hypercar that should hit 62mph in under 2.5 seconds and end up at 249mph.

Using a quad-turbocharged 6.2-litre V8 fuelled by Satan’s own homebrew (probably), this alarming performance is channelled through the rear wheels only. Forgive us if we’re just a touch sceptical about that 0-62mph claim.

But, according to Milan Automotive CEO Markus Fox, the actually going fast bit isn’t all that important. He said:

“Nowadays, you can drive an artistic car, a high-tech monster, a throne on four wheels — or a car that only serves one purpose: stealing the show. This is where we come into play.”

It certainly does grab your attention. Reportedly built to showcase what Austrian companies can do, the striking Red is said to be going after the same customers as Bugatti’s Chiron, but with a greater emphasis on emotive and/or weird technology, depending on your point of view.

For example, the infotainment system will be able to display a visual representation of the driver’s heartbeat. That will let you see exactly how excited/terrified you really are. Milan says that 18 of the planned 99 cars have already been secured with deposits. More details will follow later… if the project stays viable.

Judging by the engine specs, this is either:
A higly modified gm
A 6.2 amg with entirely new heads and internals (turbocharging and hot V would make that a necessity as with the GM)
Or - rather impressive - a self-developed unit
Not pumped about the asthetics, but the engine will be interesting

Yeah but it could also be any other production V8, with a diffrent bore or stroke..
