Following leaked images earlier in the week, Jaguar has finally given us the low-down on its sexy 'sports crossover concept'. Dubbed the C-X17, it has been built to showcase Jag's new lightweight aluminium monocoque architecture that will feature on Big Cats of the future.

The lightweight structure uses sustainable technology, featuring a high-strength alloy made from 100% recycled material. It's also incredibly stiff, which helps to keep the centre of gravity low and improves handling. The body is sleek and attempts to bring sports car flair to the presence and practicality of an SUV, no doubt inspired by the incredibly popular Range Rover Evoque.

The front grille channels the spirit of the beautiful XJ, while the narrow headlights and J-shaped running lights do well to hide the crossover's proportions. The 23-inch alloy wheels indicate a sporty intent that's also hinted at by the F-Type-inspired rear lights.

Inside, the talking point is the Interactive Surface Control. Mounted on a central tunnel that runs the length of the car, it is an 'infotainment hub' that allows passengers to interact with each other, and the outside world, through social media thanks to in-built wifi - we can't wait for the first tweet to read "just drifting the Jag, lol".

Updating your status on the fly is made comfortable thanks to four individual, leather-clad bucket seats, and there's also a couple of 'recreational' seats mounted in the floor of the boot to fit more mates in on a road trip.

The C-X17 also shows off the new family of fast, efficient four cylinder engines that will allow Jags to hit 186mph, while coughing up less than 100g of CO2 per kilometre. The range will include high output petrol and diesel engines of varying capacities, capable of powering a wide variety of vehicles.

The first car to benefit from this tech will be a mid-sized saloon, set to be rolled out in 2015. Jag claims that this new design architecture allows its designers more freedom to be creative, so chances are it'll be a looker - Jags hardly suffer in the looks department as it is.
