A Barely-Used P1 Is Another Way To Spend £2m On A McLaren

If your bid of £1.9million for the very last McLaren Senna was narrowly pipped earlier this week, we've found a similar way for you to blow the same kind of money

The wealthy so-and-so who bought the final McLaren Senna on the spot for £2 million plus taxes earlier this week could have put the money into another McLaren; one that has appreciated like we can’t believe.

For £1,920,000 he or she could have bought this instead: a Volcano Yellow P1 with Stealth wheels. Beautiful, isn’t it? It could be the perfect P1 spec. This 2016 car cost £866,000 new, plus options, and has covered just 151 miles in its one owner’s care.

Let’s give you some basic maths. For every mile this thing has driven, it has gained £6980 in value. Assuming it was delivered on the first day of March 2016, the first month that its ‘16’ plate was in use, then for every day it has sat in its no-doubt heated garage it has added £1609 to itself. If we take a delivery date of the final day of August last year, as the last day of that number plate’s life, it has built up £2233 per day.

That’s a better investment than anything on the stock market and blows the notoriously volatile Bitcoin out of the water. Can you imagine ‘earning’ that much every day without lifting a finger? Hell. Admittedly, the £1.92 million won’t be what the seller, Amari in Preston, a town in the north west of England, gave the original owner. But that’s what you’ll pay if you want it, boyo.

There’s a slightly over-dramatic video to go with the car, but the least you can expect for the purchase price is one of those and a Magic Tree air freshener. You do get lots of bare carbonfibre, grippy Alcantara and red brake calipers to add to the gorgeous spec. Practical touches include parking sensors and a fire extinguisher.

As you’d expect, it’s pretty much unblemished. The tyres are original, the original owner pack is there, both keys and fobs are included… it’s about as clean and beautiful a P1 as you could ask for. The price… well, that’s not so pretty.

Of course, the one very good reason why the rich future Senna owner wouldn’t have wanted to save some cash and buy this P1 instead is that they probably already have one. Plus a GTR.

This is my dream spec P1 and for once in my life I feel genuine envy for whoever buys it.

I’m not particularly arsed about the value of these types of cars, but if they don’t get driven, that is what ticks me off!
