ART Mercedes G55 AMG Streetline
Bad idea, bad idea on a bunch of levels if you ask me. Sure, the Mercedes-Benz G55 AMG Kompressor "Edition 79" Special that I mentioned a little while ago is a tad pretentious, but this? Ug! Double ug, actually.
Bad idea, bad idea on a bunch of levels if you ask me. Sure, the Mercedes-Benz G55 AMG Kompressor "Edition 79" Special that I mentioned a little while ago is a tad pretentious, but this? Ug! Double ug, actually. Honestly, how can you call your tuning house "ART" and turn out something that looks like this.
For starters, it's all white (at least on the outside) and that is just too close and too reminiscent of stuff like white leather sectionals and Nagel prints. And I guess if that's where your "tastes" run to, and you've finally gotten enough cash on hand and are deciding to finally ditch that black and gold Fiero, then I guess the ART Mercedes G55 AMG Streetline is for you.
The G55 AMG Streetline was shown by ART Tuning at the recent Dubai Motor Show, which makes sense, because the Middle East is the perfect market place for a ride like this. ART dug in and added an ECU upgrade to give the big and square SUV crisper shifts from the gearbox. The reworked ECU also overrides the speed limiter.
The mill is a hand built AMG plant that cranks out a total of 601 HP and 590 lb-ft of torque, which, when fed through the ECU sans-speed limiter, gives the G-Wagen a top speed of 161 MPH. Pretty good for something with the shape of a brick.
On the inside, there's red leather in a shade that ART refers to as "Bordeaux red" and it also has bright contrast stitching. This leather treatment is not just limited to the seats, but it seems to be enveloping every surface within sight. There's also a profusion of embossed logos and a set of velour carpets in black and red with hand stitched emblems.
There's even Bordeaux red leather and noble wood treatment for the ART designed multifunctional Sport Steering Wheel. And not content to leave it at that within the Mercedes G55 AMG Streetline, ART decided to fit red ambience lighting and a speedometer that reads all the way up to 330km/h.
On the outside, there's a body kit, natch. There is a "more aggressive front fascia. You can sure say that again. Ten, count 'em ten, xenon projectors lights and LED driving lights aplenty. The hood features some aero tweaks and it is also vented. There are also vents in the fenders and the wide arches. The running boards have illuminated covers and the rear bumper has multicolored LEDs all over the place. There's also a custom six tip stainless steel exhaust system, a more pronounced roof spoiler and the entry ledges for all five doors are illuminated with the ART logo.
