I support this decision, I really want a mk 4 Jetta wagon TDI that I’ll fit larger injectors, straight pipe it, and dump some serious coal out of it. Even if those aren’t your intentions, is a good car, just steer clear of an automatic transmission, mk 4 automatics where notorious for being problematic
Go for it ! I have a Passat as my 1st car and i gotta say, VW’s are very beginner friendly.
Good choice! Parts are pretty cheap compared to newer models and its easy to fix.
As someone who actually got an MK4 Jetta TDI as a first car i can tell you now their really nice. Like Novac said their very user friendly and the diesel engine is gonna outlast the body by miles, Gas mileage is great and the ride is really nice. Also as Alex stated the automatics in the MK4 jettas are known for having some problems and luckily i havent had any signs of issues yet and im inching towards the 130,000 mile mark so my fingers are crossed that it wont have any problems for a bit longer because i plan on doing a manual swap hopefully sometime soon. So as an MK4 jetta owner i say go for it you wont regret it in the long run.
if its the 1.9 TDI take the engine is brilliant :D
Yeah, why not. The TDI is very punchy and the interior is well built.
