Things I love and hate about Gran Turismo 6
In response to the brilliant forza horizon 2 post, here is the PS3 version :D
Gran Turismo 6 is the 6th main installment in the Gran Turismo franchise, made by polyphony entertainment, the game has its pros and cons, feel free to add any in comments :D

Things I love: Free money!!
Heard anyone say that you basically trip over money in GT6?, well what they said is true! Earning money is kinda easy in GT6, and I love that!! But unfortunately that leads to…
Things I hate: Not challenging
As much as I love to earn cash, doing so often leads to losing the sweet taste of win, also, the real challenges come in the highest level, the S class, where the player participates in endurance races, but this is not limited to GT6, it was the same in GT5 & 4, I do think that endurance races should’ve been included in the IA level, the level just before S -to prepare the players and offer more races-, also in GT5 & 4 endurance races were much longer and reach up to 24 hours, however, in GT6 the longest race there is a 24 minute battle at the Nurburgring!
Things I love: Big collection of cars!
There are a total of 1234 cars including duplicates and VGT (Vision Gran Turismo) cars, it’s surely a huge collection and in the picture above you can see the Nissan cars available in the game, and that is only nissans, the vast collection of cars offers cars made in the 50’s through the 70’s till the 2010’s, however, this introduces two new problems…
Things I hate: duplicates and standard cars
There are MANY unneeded duplicates that are the main reason why GT6 has so many cars, for many models there are US, UK and JDM versions, the differences between the models are names (e.g Mazda mx5 for US, mx5 Miata for UK and eunos roadster for JDM) and the steering wheel placement and rarely some cars are faster than the others, So it goes like this: oh you want a Honda S2000? Do you want a US, UK or JDM edition? Do you want the steering wheel here or there? Oh wait, it doesn’t matter as it is a standard car…
Standard cars are our 2nd problem, while you have shiny premium cars with nice interiors standard cars look like that they came straight from a PS2 game, wait a minute… THEY DID!! Some cars are carried over from GT4 and that is kinda not acceptable, I love what polyphony is doing but at least model those cars through an update like they did with some cars sounds.
There is One more problem regarding cars
Things I hate: lack of new cars
Literally the newest car in gran Turismo 6 is the Nissan GTR LM ‘15 which is a nice addition to the game, but still, the cars between ‘95 to ‘99 are more than the cars between ‘00 to ‘15, it is ridiculous but polyphony is actually covering this up with the VGT program and I am a fan of this actually, but I’d like to see newer cars like the all new RS4/5/6 and the M5 ‘12 and the P1 and Etc..
Things I love: little secrets
There are some little hidden secrets in gran Turismo 6 that are worth searching for, like for example the M3 GT2 Base model ‘11 is unlocked when you take a M3 GT2 for a spin in arcade mode, and some Miatas have hidden stripes when repainted , and the loch ness monster nearby a track, and a little monkey on a dead tree in an another track, and many other secrets!
Things I love: the VGT program
The VGT program is basically a group of manufacturers that design the cars of future, notable example is the GTR 2020 and the crazy SRT Tomahawk X, ambitious program that is one of the main reasons why should people get the game, but I’m afraid I’ve got some bad news…
It looks like that the VGT program is not continuing on the PS3 but instead continuing on GT Sport, the successor, I hope that I am wrong but the sour truth is saying else.
Things I love: realistic handling
Like it or not, GT6 handling is realistic and responsive, this will cause some fuss but you really have to try the handling in GT6, the handling differs from car to car, FF cars understeer while FR cars slide through corners, not going to say anymore because I use a controller, Wheel users can provide more on this topic :D
Things I love/hate: the track maker
The new track maker was late but fortunately the possibilities that this new track maker has covered the two year absence, I love the freedom of designing, and unlike GT5 you can download tracks from non friends ,but the track maker has its flaws, like the limited track length and the lack of the ability of adding bridges or cross paths or changing the elevation of the road , I hope that this will be fixed in the future but for now il just complain XD
Bonus: modded tracks can be fun, wether by having longer tracks or extreme slopes, find one and you are in the ride of your life.
Things I hate: license tests
License tests purpose is to advance in levels, the difference is the decreased number of tests, in the past tests were much more harder and more in number while gt6 tests are easier and lesser, this was fixed in an update by decreasing the times required to finish the tests which made them harder.
Things I love: photo locations
Well GT6 players know that the only place in that picture where you can take a picture of your car is the bridge in the center but still I love taking photos of my cars -might as well share some!-, the new locations are amazing but would’ve loved carrying over the locations from GT5 especially the red bull hangar which was my favorite!
Things I love: special events
There are five special events in GT6, the Goodwood festival of speed where you drive cars on the famous track, the lunar mission where you drive the car above on the moon in 3 challenges, the ayrton senna challenge where you drive his kart, his F3 car and his infamous piano black Lotus, the Sierra challenge where you drive cars in a checkpoint race on a fictional track based in the mountains of Andalusia and finally the GT academy annual challenge where you compete to get the best time.
Thrilling challenges and try worthy.
Things I hate: customization
Last but not least, the customization, some premium cars have bodykits, all cars have customizable spoilers and wheels, you get paint chips when buying a car or wining seasonal events, these can be used to paint your car, it is acceptable but I think that they could’ve done more, to improve the game of course!
So guys leave your opinions on this list and add more if there is a need!!
Cheers!!
Comments
I love Gran turismo but…there are some cool (edit) standard cars like all the Rufs and the Cebra speed 12
I think you mean standard? And yeah I agree I love my chameleon Orange cerbera and matte black RGT :D
What about Gran Turismo 6 not including clutches?
Can you provide more info please?
I love gran turismo. What really passes me off are the standard cars. I really want to see the interior of the cars, it adds a sense of reality to the game.
As I pointed out, the fact that they are from a PS2 game is really disturbing, and the fact that they are bringing back GT4 cars in GT sport is hunting me, imagine PS2 cars in a PS4 game!!!
And sometimes you forget to check this, and you end up buying a very cool car, but when you switch to interior view, ta-daa. Big black dash and steering wheel.
True dat, happened to me many times before they added the little thing that indicates if the interior is detailed, simplified or none
Love that GT is used as a Training Sim for D1SL & GP Drivers. V8 Drivers in Oz. Racecar drivers around the world. The Tuning side of it is 100%.
GT6, the only racing game where your dream can become true thanks to polyphony itself and Nissan :) #JustSaying
Oh, the picture of all Nissans in GT6. I have one in my profile, but a little bit edited :D
Stole it :P
Lack of cars, customization, and premium cars. Also needs to improve sound, create realistic damage on cars, and have a mode for drag racing just because.
Ah yes, the gt4 drag race mode
And we need a crash system as real as the handling
I agree about customization, when i played this I hope there’s an chasis reiforcement upgrade like ‘the roll cage’, but it’s not.
The other thing i hate in this game is ‘Rolling Start’, too much gap between 1 car to another ahead, as I know the ‘Rolling Start’ during the race is the 2 or 3 rows of formation lap.
The Lasting I hate is there is no “Open-Wheel” car. I mean how could possibly they have an FIA license but they don’t have a Modern and Classic Formula 1 car ??? (IndyCar probably be excluded).
Nice points, we need the formula cars from GT3: A Spec and the must keep the 97T
