Try it. You might get surprised. But don´t expect it to be like a turbo.People just expect to much and that is why those jokes about v-tec being bad exists.
Never tried a Honda but well said
i experienced this one time in an S2000. It was like the car was going backwards until 6,000 RPM and then it just lurched forward like a bat out of hell because VTEC KICKED IN YO. but my god what a boring lead up to that. i was like uhhh 5,000 rpms wheres the torque!
V-tec was not made for making the car runs faster. was made for eficiency. Low consumption lower torque, high consumption higher torque, you (and your wallet)choose. Its that simple. Sorry but only ignorants look at v-tec as some kind of boost.
BUUUT, doesn’t the high torque come on suddenly at a high RPM?
High revving engines, Light and neutral handling, and having to stir the gearbox like a madman
You’ll love it
I have a honda but no Vtach :( . HOWEVER I do have an exhaust and intake valve that open at higher throttle and RPM. XD
I drove a civic a few weeks ago. Didn’t have vtec. Mildly disappointed.
I have a 93 coupe with the D16Z6 SOHC V-Tec engine. It isnt mind blowing or anything but it’s not bad. What people seem to not understand is that until around 5k rpm these engines don’t really have much power. But starting off in first it reaches that 5k in no time. Just cruising around it is a low power economy car but shift right and they can be quick. Civics real glory is in the suspension and the light weight they are. I’ve had an 03 Neon 2.0l I4 , 2007 Grand Cherokee 3.7l V6, and 2001 GMC Sierra 4.8l V8 and of all of them the civic is the funnest to drive as long as you know how to drive it. Without speeding it takes quite a long time to get to 60mph. If I floor it than it currently takes about 5.7 seconds to get from 0-60 with just exhaust work.
