2001 Mercedes Benz SL600

I just got this car a few weeks back. 2001 MB SL600. With the V12. It’s a hard-top convertible… The hard-top comes off, and a soft-top can be raised when the hard-top is removed. It’s almost warm enough for the top to come off. :D

I put a pair of high-flow intakes on it shortly after getting it, and I just had the exhaust done yesterday. I’ll be posting a video soon… After installing the intakes, I’ve managed to do 0-60 in around 5.3 seconds (with loads of wheelspin at the launch). Top speed is electronically limited to 155mph, and it’ll do 185mph de-limited.

Despite being such a heavy car, the handling is pretty spectacular. With the suspension at its stiffest setting, it’ll carve corners like a sports car. Then, with the normal suspension setting, it cruises like a luxury yacht.

I’ve been wanting an SL or an SLK for quite a while, so I was thrilled to finally get one.

Nice. I think the R129 was the best sl. Especially as 600.

Like these SL’s. Not cheap though, shame.

Actually, it was pretty affordable. $9,995 when I bought it earlier this year. Only had 88,000 miles on it, too. Granted, the car lot had an issue they were unable to fix, so it was marked down. I fixed the “issue” in the parking lot (a sensor wasn’t plugged in) and the check engine light went off about 10 minutes after I left the lot. So.. big win, there. :D

Haven’t had a chance to dyno it, yet. So long as it’s running well, and has been properly maintained before I got it, should be making around 340-350 wheel horsepower and around 370-380 wheel lb-ft of torque.
