Depends on your level of understanding.. The physical installation is easy.. But.. You need to understand fuel curves, timing, and heat.. Honestly its not terribly hard, but it is important to note that you can blow the engine if you get it wrong.. Why do you want an ECU? Do you have the internals built on the engine?

If you have stock internals, there’s no reason to change the ECU, upgrade it, or tweak it.. You are talking easily 800USD for the equipment and 300.00 for the tune, on a stock 1nzfe, with full exhaust and CAI, and 1zzfe injectors, you might see 25hp.. Without the ECU tune, and with the rest you would see 18-20hp over stock.. So why would you get a stand alone, or change the stock tune?

Figure a decent rough estimate on cost to make power with that motor is in the 3-4K dollar range..
That will give you around 300Whp.. and will make it safe to daily drive.. But only if you go manual transmission..

The automatic will handle about 150Whp before it blows apart..
And if you wanted to retain the automatic you need to add an additional 2-3K more dollars to the build to have the transmission sent away to be built up..

Make it fast..

  1. Manual transmission is mandatory
  2. Pull the motor from the car..
  3. Take completely apart
  4. Purchace forged crank
  5. Purchase block sleeving kit
  6. Purchase forged conrods
  7. Purchase titanium wrist pins
  8. Purchase forged pistons
Make sure pistons lower the compression rating..
  9. Purchace ultra high performance gasket kit
  10. Purchase high flow fuel pump
  11. Purchase fuel pressure regulator
  12. Use fuel rail and injectors from 2jz supra.
  13. Purchase megasquirt piggy back computer
  14. Purchase arp bolts studs
  15. Purchase turbo kit, run 18-25psi
  16. Full exhaust
  17. Put motor back together and torque everything to spec
    18 purchase front mount intercooler.
  18. Use all synthetic fluids
  19. Send car for dyno tune..

Full built 1nzfte is good for 500whp..

Transmission side..

  1. Purchase manual trans
  2. Purchase celica gts cvjoints
  3. 4agze lsd from c50 trans will work
  4. Purchase lightened flywheel
  5. Purchase new clutch, throw out bearing, shift fork, pedal and manual ecu for the 1nzfe engine.

Bolt everything in..

Race..
Dont forget good tires..
