Lack of panoramic sunroofs in Japanese cars

I have been car shopping for a friend of mine for the past month in Toronto, Ontario, Canada. We have tried all sorts of cars (Hyundais, Hondas, Toyotas, VWs). We went through all the options and trims available for these cars, and my friend and I noticed one thing; that the new economy japanese cars do not offer panoramic sunroofs.

I looked it up online, Honda does not offer it on any of their models except for the highest trim on the Honda Pilot ($51,000 CAD). However it is not a true panoramic sunroof as it is split as two separate moonroofs.

Luxury Japanese models have panoramic sunroofs. Lexus has it on their latest RX, Infiniti has it on their line up too. Acura had been offering panoramic sunroof since the ill fated ZDX (not on all their models though).

My point is why isn’t the panoramic sunroof offered on economy Japanese cars? Volkswagen has it on most of their models (Golf, Tiguan, etc), Hyundai proudly boasts that they offer panoramic sunroofs (a 2013 elantra GT had a panoramic sunroof option).

If anyone has an answer, please comment below :) Thanks guys
