Bought a new Isuzu 6BD1-T engine for my '75 TXD45

So, my friend gave me more details about my Isuzu’s engine and it’s not looking good. Internal rust has taken over some bearings. Spark plugs were removed a while ago which means rust in caked inside. Cylinders seem weak and at least 2 are cracked. Instead of farting around all day, I had this new and inexpensive 6BD1-T shipped to a storage facility in Japan. When I decide which shop i’ll use to restore the rig in Japan, i’ll have this engine transported over there.
This is an Isuzu 6BD1-T. It is a 6cyl 5.7L turbodiesel. Found this online from engineandparts.com (Compete Diesel). I included the specs. This engine looks real nice.

My friend can’t identify the engine currently in it l, but some extensive research revealed the 6BD1 series were offered in later Trucks of similar size. I will have the engine fit before the front body panels are replaced so I can clear up some space if necessary.

Thank you!!! The old engine had 1 spark plug installed but the rest were removed. Other engine parts were also removed for no apparent reason. But then again it is Myanmar

I liked the TurboTech but was never a big Iveco fan in general. The trucks are reliable just not appealing to me

Thank you! it’ll do well with this rig. I like this plan alot cuz if this engine doesn’t fit well then modify the engine bay and then get the new body panels on. Of course there will be obstacles but this should go smoother than anticipated.

I can have a cat converter supplied and i’ve got a bunch of friends that modify old engines to fit modern standards. I can go to them, and honestly probably will.

That sounds like a really cool project! I’ve had some time spent wrenching and behind the wheel with the slightly larger 6.3l 6BG1-T engines, which look to b pretty similar. Do you know what gearbox and rear end arrangement is currently on the truck? Or do you have another transmission to pair with the 6BD1? It’d sure be fun to split shift the transmission with a 2 speed axle!

Funny story, so i’m in Iceland this truck is in Myanmar, my buddy offered to buy it for me (i’m paying him back later of course) and details are very rare. I don’t know much about this truck at all, but I do know it has a 6.4L(?)L DA120 Diesel 6cyl, I think I-6. I don’t know anything about the gearbox, but my friend said it doesn’t look stock. Rear axle we think is stock and driveshaft is certainly not stock.
Do you have any other details on the TXD trucks?
