Why do we consider cars rice?

When most people would call the car above “rice” I would say if it makes you happy do it. Back in the old days people would appreciate your car because it showed off your skills. Nowadays people would just look at a car that has been so called “riced” and laugh. You don’t know how hard the owner could have worked on the car. Never judge a book by its cover. Do what makes you happy instead of what is considered “right” by the masses. Peace.

Generally people who say “rice” to cars like the one above say it because the car looks like it’s cheap, sounds like it’s cheap, and is near stock. But I do have to agree with you many people will look at any car even ones with engine mods and stuff and they’ll call that particular car “rice”

That is why we need to stop calling cars rice and learn to accept them as true builds.

I define “rice” as stupid modifications to the outside, putting a muffler that sounds terrible on the particular engine, and either ignoring the engine or messing it up.

I don’t consider above “rice” unless it sounds or performs poorly.

It can be defined either way, depends on how you go about the term “rice”

“Rice” is putting absurd cosmetic modifications on a car that are just for show and negatively impact performance. Bosozuku or whatever that Japanese thing is called does not count.
