Automatic transmission slip Peugeot 206
Hello and I am not sure about this is the right place to ask, if it is not you are appreciated to show where should it be.
Today I was driving Peugeot 206 automatic transmission on hill climbing, suddenly the car felt like downshifting and decelarated with strange noise resembling motor rpm is increasing, after that the car struggled to climb up. What I notice is that the engine is responding my gase pedal movements but the car is not accelarating, rpm is going up but the car keeps its speed on hills. It almost felt like the current gear is neutral like if it was manual transmission so that you press gase pedal and you hear all the voice but engine is not connected to the car. I stopped when hills are over to turn back to home and let the car to cooldown little bit. Then it contiuned to work normally and power was not wasted when climbing hills on the way home.
I have changed transmission oil on 86000 km’s and the oil was in a bad condition, smelly.
I am not sure what is the problem with the car and whether I have damaged the transmission with oil change. Thanks for any help.

Verify the fluid level is correct. If it has enough fluid and is still slipping you have bigger issues. Check oil level with the engine running.
If a transmission oil change made it worse it’s either the wrong fluid or your transmission can’t handle the pressure of new fluid. Friction burns up the fluid in transmissions so replacing the fluid may make the wet clutches engage a little more aggressive than normal for the first couple thousand miles. Give it some time to break in the new fluid!
