The Brazilian Volkswagen Gol GT Concept is definitely the car that we want to see in production.

For 15 years Volkswagen ended the production of the rare Gol G3 GTI with 2.0 16V 145 hp engine. Since then it was difficult to call any special series or version of the sports compact.

But the situation may change if the Gol Concept GT, which has just been presented at the São Paulo Motor Show, becomes something more than a mere show car.

Despite requests from the fans, it took time for Volkswagen to be encouraged to create a Goal with a sports footprint. This concept is signed by the design studio of Volkswagen in Brazil, now led by José Carlos Pavone, and stands out for the extended bumpers and larger air intakes. Lighthouses are different, full leds and projectors, and the mists have been replaced by LEDs.

More importantly, the base is a two-door Gol, which received gray volcano painting with red details and bright black painted ceiling. The matte black applique in the middle of the trunk lid is allusive to the original 1984 GT, from which the new concept steals the style of the logo. The 18-inch alloy wheels are in front of the brake discs with red tweezers.

On the inside, it has sports seats of the shell type, bright black trim with the “GT” logo dividing the panel, the air vents are aluminum and the steering wheel is the same as the Golf GTI, but with red stitching. The pedals have an aluminum sports cap, as well as the shift lever. The door sills also carry the “GT” logo.

The only thing this car needs is a powerful engine and a good suspension for tracks, like the Sanders RS did

It’s basically a better looking Polo Gti. They should use that look and make a Polo R for the Uk

As a brazilian I can say that this concept is the car that every car lover wants to see on the streets. The only problem is the sports car market here. Right now the only option for a new, affordable (barely), compact sports car is the Sandero RS, which is a damn good car (I’ve driven a few and my god I love that little Dacia). If this Gol GT is released to the market t would make me consider buying one for myself istead of the Sandero. BTW I’m looking for a new sports compact car, but I cant choose between the Sandero RS with it’s 150hp or the Punto T-Jet and it’s 1.4L turbo with 152hp

Nobody knows if it’s really going to be released, if we consider that the Gol Highline I-Motion costs almost R$ 60,000, my guess is that it comes with prices between R$ 75.000 and R$ 80.000.
