White Wall Tire Heritage

Long ago the white wall tires could be seen on any moving vehicle. They are literally as old as the car itself. The reason the original tire was white was due to the chemicals mixed with the rubber to provide greater traction. This chemical is called zinc oxide and made the entire rubber white. However, this mixture did not wear as good as one had hoped and carbon black was added on the tread to increase its endurance. Hence the white walls. A demand for all black tire rose (for some reason) and a thin black layer were added to the white walls. Despite that, the tires lived on all the way to the 70s were they were ultimately killed of on new production cars.

In my opinion the white wall tires is a sign of class. But it was the all black tire that originally was the more wealthy choice since more carbon black had to be used therefor it was more expensive and it was easier to clean. But this changed in the 20’s and 30’s when the, oh so amazing, white contrast to darker surrounds once again became stylish. And this is why I believe that they need to make a comeback to modern cars. The white strip on the side will make you cars wheel look bigger but you will not need to buy expensive 18 inch tires and wheels. The ride will be a lot smother and you will look as classy as a 30’s gangster and tell me those weren’t respected.

Your modern car lacks personality, a set of white wall tires will enhance this dramatically. Swing by Casa della Tires and I will include fresh new winter tires for the season.
