This Could Be The Weird New Sound Of Electric Vehicles

A weird new sound has been created to warn pedestrians, cyclists and other road users of an EV's presence. This could get annoying...

This is the new warning sound that’s been created by PSA Peugeot Citroën, Renault and Nissan for use on electric vehicles. Because EVs are near silent, the idea behind the system - which is pumped out of external speakers when cameras recognise a pedestrian, cyclist or another road user - is to reduce the risk of an EV running into a person who might not have heard it coming, (the NHTSA states that EVs are twice as likely to hit someone at low speeds compared to an ICE car).

The system is called eVADER and has been designed to "find an optimum balance between ensuring the cars are detectable, whilst retaining the reduction in noise pollution, which is one of the great benefits that our EVs offer.”

While the noise itself is pretty innocuous, I wonder what you think might make a better alternative; Jeremy Clarkson shouting ‘POWERRR!’ perhaps? Now that could be interesting!
