Porsche has been tinkering with the 918 Spyder, and with the first customer cars to be delivered shortly, it has announced that the vital statistics are
even more impressive than before.
Featuring a V8 petrol engine and two electric motors, the 918 delivers a combined
887hp. This much we already knew, however Porsche's engineers have improved the
effectiveness of the 918's awesome power.

The acceleration is just ridiculous, and with the 'Weissach' option fitted - which lowers the weight and improves the aerodynamics - the figures are mightily impressive.
0-62mph takes just 2.6 seconds, with 186mph reached in 19.9 seconds. That's an improvement of 0.2 seconds and 2.1 seconds respectively.

Despite the supercar performance figures, the 918's economy figures are purely Prius -
94mpg and 70g/km is something you'd expect from a city runabout, not a car that laps the Nurburgring in under
7 minutes.
These figures, and the imminent arrival of the McLaren P1 and Ferrari LaFerrari hybrid supercars, prove that performance motoring is here to stay.
Bring on the next generation.
