Is it possible to import a trabant into the U. S. and how would one go about it

I wanna know if trabbies are legal in the U.S. and how would one do it or who I would go through cause I want to get one and throw in a Polo engine or something to that aspect and make that little east German car into something more fun to drive

Doug DeMuro did a video on one, so I’d say they’re legal. If it’s over 25 years old, you could probably import it legally, though I’d imagine it’d be more involved than importing a car from Japan.

I wouldn’t. The only interesting thing about it is its engine, the rest of the car is utterly terrible.
A trabbi without a twostroke just isn’t a trabbi imho.
Why don’t you get a Wartburg(3cyl 50hp twostroke) or a Shiguli?
