Why the Nissan GT-R must be manual again

In the modern world we can see that everything has become much easier. Cars are the same aswell. Hugely cherished and enjoyed manual cars have now become automatic and one example of that is the GT-R lineup of Nissan. If any petrolhead is asked which one is the most enjoyed and loved GT-R of alltime then simply the answer will be the r34 or commonly known as the Skyline GT-R.

The Skyline might not have the power of a r35 GT-R but it was flawless and a very fun machine. With only 235 bHP compared to the 585 bHP of r35 GT-R(2017), the difference is of sky and land. But the r34 is much enjoyed due it’s 6-Speed Manual Transmission. The power of the engine is greatly balanced and well handeled by the Manual Trans. We already know that the Automatic Transmission of the r35 GT-R cannot keep up with the beast engine as the transmission heats up just after two launch mode. That is why the GT-R must come back with Manual Transmission to become the Godzilla or Giant Slayer again. Manual Transmission will also make it much enjoyable.

Nissan should comeback with a manual transmission GT-R again to reclaim the title of GODZILLA

Honestly? I think it might be a good idea, but with what I think Nissan set out to do with the R35: i.e make a User-Friendly, fast, Fairly Practical Supercar(Or high-ish-end Sports Car With Supercar Numbers), it’s meant to appeal to a wider range of people, who want the power, and the speed, but don’t want to have to work through the gears One-By-One. What I’m saying is, I don’t think the R35 was meant to be a full-on driver’s car(with additional Manual Gearbox), but rather a User-Friendly, mind-blowing Sportscar which appeals to a wider range of people.

But the GT-R lineup was not meant for user satisfaction rather it’s a lineup known for utmost driver pleasure

The way things are going, Nissan are making it sound like the R36 is meant to be a cut-price Porsche 918, and I’ve heard it’ll have an 8-speed auto and 775hp. I think they should make the next Z (390Z perhaps?) the “driver’s car”, with a reasonable amount of power (300-400hp), light weight, manual option and RWD.

I’d love to see a 400Z. Make it a driver’s car with a 4.0L V8 in it. Pit it against the muscle cars. That’d be a neat sight to behold. Either that, or make it lighter and not based off a luxury sedan platform, back to a modest 3.0L turbo V6. I’d love that as well.

They should just make the Q50/60 have a manual transmission. That way we would have a SKYLINE successor with a manual.
But these new autos are pretty badass.

Yeah, I think Infiniti should bring back the Skyline bit. The GT-R is heading more and more into the realm of the 2-seater supercar (apparently the R36 will have 2 seats, 775hp, hybrid, 8-speed dual clutch and will cost about $250k - that’s what most sites are agreeing on).

I see the point, but honestly it should stick with the semi-auto. It’s faster than a manual in every way and it’s easier to use and maintain on a high powered and technologically sophicasted beast like itself. Plus, the GT-R, since the R32 has always been about evolution and moving forward, showcasing the newest technologies and causing a disturbance on the street and track while also being user friendly. That being said, reverting back to manuals for the GT-R isn’t something I’d support, honestly.
