DIY cold air feed
Fitted my DIY cold air intake yesterday. My main aim with it was to provide an alternative supply of cool air to the standard intake as i am going to seal up my wheel arch vents. This will hopefully reduce moisture in the space between the engine bay and the front bumper.
I started by removing my fog light blank on the left hand side of the car and measuring the hole. I found that the recess in the bumper was approximately 103mm at the narrowest point. I then ordered a revotec aluminium flange with an inner diameter of 76mm and painted it black (because stealth) and a pipercross cold air feed kit which supplied the second aluminium flange and the necessary 50mm ducting.
I pushed the ducting into my standard U bend pipe and duct-taped the pipe to prevent the ridge in my engine bay cutting through. I used tiger seal to join my two flanges together and to bond the flanges into my front bumper (of course allowing the correct setting period to elapse between each step).
The result is an out the factory looking cold air feed that has the added advantage of preventing rust in my car.

Is it still all going through the standard airbox? I’d be concerned driving in heavy rain sucking excess water into the engine. Hold your hand over the hole and open the throttle, you’ll be amazed how much suction there is
Yeah it’s the standard box with a piper cross panel filter. Between the heat off the engine and exhaust manifold, the oil in the filer and the design of the standard intake I’m not too concerned about water to be honest.
