Here's How Fantastically Detailed A $15k Bugatti Veyron Model Is

If you pay $15,000 for a model car, what are you getting for your cash? Watch this video to find out...

Unsurprisingly, spending $15,000 on a model car buys you quite a lot of detail. In the case of this five-figure, one-eighth-scale Amalgam Bugatti Veyron Vitesse, you get a working airbrake, LED lights and indicators, an illuminated interior and much more besides.

Each one is built by hand, taking over 300 hours to make. Amalgam even has the proper CAD data supplied by Bugatti, to ensure its models are as accurate as possible. In other words, it’s the sort of thing you want to display where your cat/child can’t knock it on the floor…

Wouldn’t that mean it has a 1-litre W2 engine?

No I think it should be a 1L W16

No. Volume scales cubically so it’s about 16cc.

What would make it even more awesome (and expensive) is a 1/8 scale working model of the engine and transmission (at least the engine)
Btw. They do exist, but inside that model would be la crème de la crème

Or you own one but want the exact replica in your living room. (And one of all your cars of course)

True, but the sort of person who can afford $15k toys doesn’t buy $15k cars ;)

15k covers my WRX and all its repairs for the past year (new turbocharger core, engine rebuild and machining) and still leave me with enough money for a Cobb Accessport, coilovers and tires.

I didn’t know you could buy 1969 ZL1s and 1969 Yenkos for $15k USD.
Nor that you could buy 1970 Boss 429s, 1967 GT350Rs and 1969 Boss 302s for $15k USD.
Or that you could even get a base new Mustang, or a base new Camaro for $15k USD.

What an amazing world we are living in.

When a title announces “A Fantastically Detailed Model” then at list an adequate quality filming is necessary to see all the cool details, except it is presented by the worst video along with absolutely inappropriate soundtrack. Excellent model, horrible video.

Fully agree, the potato camera makes all the LED’s look like they’re out of a low-quality late 2000’s toy car that flashes lights and makes unbearable amounts of noise when you pull it back.
