Here's A Painful Introduction To The World Of Ferrari Parts Prices
When intrepid used car hero/mad man and YouTuber Tyler Hoover swapped a pristine Acura NSX plus $10,000 for a broken Ferrari F355, we couldn’t help but question his sanity. Even more so than usual.
But, Hoover surmised that given the bonkers state of the used Ferrari market right now, it was worth the risk. Yes, it could be a hugely expensive engine-out job to fix its coolant leak, or it could just need something simple like a new hose.
Turns out it’s the latter. The only trouble is, this is a Ferrari. And Ferrari parts are not cheap. The part in question that needs replacing is a ‘heat exchanger sleeve’, and it costs $222.49. Oh, and both ‘sides’ are being replaced, so that’s nearly $450 before factoring in labour and some new coolant.
Since this is the price of a minor job, it gives you some idea as to how F355 ownership can quickly become ruinously expensive…

Tyler did a great job with this one. A manual 355 with low miles, he’s sitting on a goldmine

its interesting because here in South Africa they are offering a discount on Ferrari parts for classic parts and a discount for labor - it may sound insane but if you look at the labor rate its way cheaper to service a classic Ferrari than what it would cost on a new Audi. The parts can be expensive but anything is if you go via the dealer.
also - the F355 can be one of the most labor intensive and unreliable Ferrari’s, you also need to change parts out every 2 or 3 years regardless of kms.
That actually doesn’t sound too bad. I own an Audi R8, my friend owns a Gallardo. Essentially, the same cars. we both ended up needing a new gas cap. Mine was plastic it cost me $85. His was milled aluminum with the Raging Bull logo on it. That was $3,500.

He probably got off easy on the labour cost. What do you think the Ferrari dealer chargers per hour of labour? 2 or 300$?
