Take a look at Chevrolet’s new endurance racer, aiming to fill the very large boots of the outgoing front-engined car.

The new mid-engined C8 is aiming to build on the massive success of its predecessor in the 2020 season, particularly in the hands of works race team Corvette Racing, which has won 107 races, 13 team championships and 12 driver’s championships since 1999.

Chevrolet surprised its audience by revealing the C8.R unexpectedly at the launch of the new Corvette Stingray convertible. It hasn’t revealed any specs as the testing and fine-tuning process is still in progress, but naturally it will be bound by the rules of the classes it races in.

A team of two cars will be operated by Corvette Racing. The number four car, seen here, uses a mainly silver livery with yellow accents in homage to past Corvette concepts like the 1973 Aerovette and the 1959 Corvette Stingray Racer.

There will also be a number three car, which will don a yellow livery with silver accents in a kind of reverse of the number four. This one follows the livery lineage of the last 20 years.

In 2015 the famously loud racing iteration of the Corvette C7 won the so-called ‘triple crown’ of GT-level endurance racing: the 24 Hours of Le Mans, the Rolex 24 at Daytona and the 12 Hours of Sebring. The C8.R has got its work cut out to match that.

That car just looks mean and ready for war and it looks fast AF…..there are other words I could use to describe this car but all of them are bleepers if you know what I mean!

Imagine if this gets the triple crown and then the driver also goes on to get the triple crown at Le Mans, Monaco, and Daytona

Daytona? Isn’t the driver triple crown completed with Indianapolis?

Looks like you’ve forgot to write about the engine. It’s an iteration of the LT series but is 5.5L, has twin turbos and is a flatplane crank.

Quite a good detail if you ask !

Wait, really? I knew it was a flatplane variant, but I had no idea that they dropped the displacement and put in turbos! It makes sense for an endurance racer, but WOW
