4 Reasons why European cars suck - By a diehard European car fanboy.

As all you know, I’m a diehard Euro car guy. There’s a lot of reasons why European cars are great. The variety. The finely crafted design. The technology. The fan base that is less smug than muscle or JDM ones. The heritage. Yes. It seems like the whole European car community is such a perfect place.
NAH. LET ME GUESS. Like everything else, European cars have it’s weaknesses too.

1) High car prices.
You can get a basic Yank or Jap car for cheap. Not so for the Europeans. Most cheap Europeans (not counting Dacia) will set you loads of money. In Malaysia, the cheapest European car is mostly more expensive than the Japanese competitors.

2) S*ty tech.
Yes, as I mentioned, European cars are the leaders of the automotive tech. Yet some tech is proven unnecessary. Things like automatic everything, tireless warning systems and stupid “sport” options have just ruined our driving fun.

3) Hard to tune or modify.
Unlike American or Japanese cars, European cars are hard to tinker. Loads of sophisticated tech, engine that are built to uncrack-able and of course the lack of proper tuning culture in Europe (not a case now) became somewhat hard to crack an European car.

4) Not everything is in good quality.
If you are in a German or a Swedish car, that’s not your main concern. Not so for the Italians and the French. They made pretty cars but their quality is so bad that most of the cars broke quickly (recently even the Germans and the Swedish have quality problems too). For example, Alfa Romeo always known for their sXXX quality cars.

What else? They keep all the best ones for themselves and give us the versions with FWD and f×ckin 20 less HP.
AND
The vast majority of iconic Euro classics in their diluted American form…have ugly ass cosmetic changes…like extra lights, not as cool lights or those STUPID bumpers…
All these things are fixable…but as you said…mucho dinero.

Meanwhile US keeps all the best of their for themselfs and they give us no versions. It’s hard to be muscle fan in Europe.

I’m a fan of European cars too, but you are so damn right with everything you just wrote.

About point 3- “hard to modify”
I get your point, but then again European performance cars aren’t really meant to be modified, they’re stupidly quick and powerful from factory.
Plus with all the clever tech handling all this great burden of power, it’s naturally going to be hard to tune one otherwise you may ruin it.

Nevertheless, great post!!

Not to mention the bullsh*t that supercar companies make. Loted edition on limited edition or making different colour and hoping that some brainwashed millionaire will pay 80k+ for it…

On the first point, not all european cars are expensive, here in sweden you can get volvos dirt cheap because they’re everywhere, although those cheaper ones are probably not in the best of states… I don’t know, you can get older German and Swedish cars pretty cheap over hear..

There’s a point but most people from this planet knows that anything Euro is really expensive…especially newer ones.
Come to Malaysia, even a dirt cheap Toyota cost as much as 10 kidneys and not as great as those sold in Europe…trust me.
