The Porsche 911 GT3 Touring Package Doesn't Have Time For Massive Wings
Although the 991.2 911 GT3‘s rear wing isn’t quite as substantial as the one found on the RS, it’s still a rather overt chunk of carbonfibre. Happily, if you find it a bit much, you can now have it taken off your GT3 as part of the new ‘Touring Package’.
Referencing a pack originally available on the 1973 911 Carrera RS, it’s a no-cost option for the manual gearbox GT3 only that replaces the fixed wing with a lower, retractable version (no word on how much downforce the change costs you). And that’s it, really. The rest of the bodywork is unchanged, as is the glorious, 493bhp 4.0-litre flat-six.
There are a few changes on the inside to make the car a little more luxurious though, mostly centred around ditching the lashings ofbecause racecar Alcantara in favour of leather. As such, the GT3’s super-focused ‘Clubsport’ pack can’t be combined with the Touring, nor can any Alcantara-based option. Other than that though, Porsche says: “Virtually all 911 GT3 options are also available in combination with the Touring Package.”
So, what will it be for you? A regular GT3, or the more subtle Touring Package?

Honestly it looks so much prettier, lowkey aggressive, will sing it’s heart out when you want it to, and will bite your head off when you’re stupid. That Porsche is like a girl you just want.
GT3 with no wing. Honestly, just buy a Carrera GTS, I don’t see the point of it anymore…

To drive the GT3 is in a completely different league to the GTS. And that’s before we get to the noise…
The GT3 has a 500PS 4.0 N/A flat six…
The GT3 is NA, it’s not the same.
The difference between a GT3 and GTS is the difference between an S-Line A3 and an RS3 Sedan. Totally different league for a totally different market.

Those who flipped them have made loads. The real losers are those who bought them from flippers hoping to hold onto them and resell for even more.
Porsche does now take note of who flips their cars for profit so those owners won’t be eligible for limited models ever again, but as others have surely said, those who did flip 911R models have enough money to buy several GT3s, which, unlike the 911R, is not limited and will not increase in value.
I’ll take the regular GT3 any day. Although I reccon a ducktail wing like the one in the 2.7 RS could do wonders…
This is pure perfection if you ask me. A much more usable car all round.
But the WANG. And it’s RWD 500bhp. A carrera 4 is much better IMHO

Porsche is really doing now what they wanted to do before. SELL ALL THE CAYENNES AND MACANS SO PORSCHE CAN HAVE MONEY TO MAKE MORE THINGS LIKE THIS

This is just a package where they literally just remove the rear wing and add a little bit of Alcantara. If they need that much money to remove a wing, they have a serious problem with their R&D department.
On the other side, if all you need to get Porsche fans excited is to remove the rear wing, add a bit of Alcantara and make it a package, I honestly don’t know why Porsche continues to develop cars like the 918. Just make a package with some RS stickers, rally-inspired headlights and call it the “RS package”, and watch the car world freak out.
