Today, we’re looking at a car that’s mid-engined, supercharged, and available in either rear or four-wheel drive. Sounds like some sort of super-exotic Italian supercar from the a few decades ago, doesn’t it? But, the object of Doug DeMuro’s latest quirk-finding quest is actually an MPV: the Toyota Previa.
But the Previa’s engine placement (it sits under the front seats, making toping up fluids…interesting) isn’t the only thing that’s weird about it. From weird air vents to odd styling touches, there’s plenty for Doug to get stuck into here…

What’s different to say a Hiace, Town Ace or Lite Ace which also have the engine under the front seats and feature rear or all wheel drive.

I actually once saw one in an auction, i thought that it was just a regular old minivan with an aerodynamic design

The Previa isn’t the only minivan having the hand brake on the left of the driver though, Fiat Ulysse, Peugeot 807 and Lancia Phedra (basically the exact same car btw) also have it even though they don’t have the mid engine explanation.
Aside of that, the Previa seems to be a cool car, I remember friends having this car back when I was a child and I couldn’t remember all these fun facts about this car. Maybe I’ll try to find one later on if I need a minivan.
