This Is What A De-Catted BMW M2 Sounds Like
When we ran a BMW M2 as a long-term test car last year, we couldn’t help but think it was a tad muted. But this M2? Well, it doesn’t sound muted. Not by a long stretch.
It’s been fitted with an Fi decat exhaust system, along with an upgraded turbocharger, a carbonfibre bodykit and KW coilovers. It’s now putting out 450bhp, and makes quite an angry noise.
You’ll get the general gist of the car in the first three and a half minutes of the video - after that it turns into a fairly dull autobahn jaunt which is - for the most part - shot in the rain.
What do you think of the noise this thing makes? An improvement, or not?
Growing up on a diet of World Rally Championship highlights and lengthy Gran Turismo 2 sessions, a life in cars was as good as inevitable for Matt.

Just me, or does an automatic (dct or whatever) ruin the sound of modern cars? I much prefer that second long pause for the revs to drop

That’s the reason why I really don’t like the sound of the R35. It just seems… wrong… But the transmissions Ferrari uses, they are awesome. The bang on changes that don’t sound smooth and continuous like a CVT, are perfectly acceptable IMO
I’m not a fan of the farty noise it makes at high RPMs when revved…

No, outside of teenage girls that care more about price tags than anything else, most people prefer the M2

Unpopular opinion: De-Catting your car is as moronic as rolling coal…
You can get 80-90% of the power bump and sound if you go with a sport cat. Runs cleaner, won’t trigger a CEL… Now this rig here is a whole lot more than just no cat….
