VIDEO: Bugatti 16C Galibier Concept

Ah, the Bugatti 16C Galibier Concept. The on-again/off-again Bugatti sedan that rumors have swirled about for quite some time. It wasn't shown at Frankfurt, but instead given it's own introduction.

The head of Bugatti Franz-Josef Paefgen said he didn't like seeing cars at auto shows, only to have them not be built. So, given that Bugatti isn't sure about the 16C Galibier, it wasn't shown at one. Makes sense, right?

If you've researched the 16C Galibier, you'd know that it is not a guaranteed production model. The way Bugatti does things is different than other automakers - it is a design concept (one of three) being shown to clients and dealers testing the waters for a production run.

As I've speculated about before though, Bugatti is going to need to make a decision about a new model soon, before the production run of the Veyron ends. They keep extending that with special models, thus buying themselves more time.

The rumored date for decision on production of the 16C Galibier is supposedly spring of 2010. To me, I think it's very likely to see production. It's too soon to know though - there is always the unlikely event dealers and clients won't like it.
