There is no shortage of small startup companies aiming to produce vehicles in the high-performance car arena. However, the list narrows greatly when it comes to actual production.
There is no shortage of small startup companies aiming to produce vehicles in the high-performance car arena. However, the list narrows greatly when it comes to actual production.
Back in 2008, a company called ICONIC introduced the GTR Roadster. Fast forward two years and the company is still around, announcing that they are taking orders and beginning production next year.
The car is dubbed the ICONIC AC Roadster. Kind of reads like a statement, doesn't it? The new name is thanks to a collaboration with AC Cars, who chose ICONIC to be part of a relaunch of the AC brand in the United States.
While they haven't stayed in the limelight, ICONIC has been busy these past two years. Getting the support of AC is a good move.
Currently, ACs are only sold in Europe and the company is headquartered in Germany, where production takes place. No word on where the ICONIC AC Roadster vehicle will be produced, but stylistically it differs from vehicles produced by AC Cars.
The ICONIC AC Roadster was redesigned to incorporate modern technologies, and it represents a freshened take on the classic AC look inside and out.
ICONIC says the AC Roadster is a new kind of supercar, offering a classic look without any compromises.
It certainly doesn't in the powertrain department, with an aluminum 6.9-liter V-8 making 800 horsepower. No word on pricing, but ICONIC is now taking orders and has announced a release date of 2011.
