This great video from Vox shows how and why cars became curvy, having been boxy for years. There's a little more to it than you might expect...

As explained in this great video from Vox, and perhaps as expected, the quest for better fuel economy through more streamlined designs played a big part in the curvy revolution. But, there are more factors at play, such as the rise of computer modeling making curvy vehicle design a hell of a lot easier.

Aerodynamics aside though, there is still something cool about older, boxier cars…

I preferred the boxy look over the new body styles. I currently have one of both (1988 Grand Marquis and 2014 Fiesta ST). The Fiesta is fun to drive but the Marquis has so much character that comes with the looks. It’s something you don’t get with today’s “cookie cutter” cars.
