Camaro Convertible Production Gets a Date
The Chevrolet Camaro has been quite a big sales hit for General Motors. Ever since its introduction it has outsold the Mustang, a no doubt impressive feat, given the enduring popularity of the Mustang and anti-GM headwinds in the market.

A Camaro Convertible Concept was shown at the 2007 Detroit Auto Show, but one of the results of the financial crunch GM was in over the past year was a delay in development.
The Camaro Convertible would have arrived sooner if not for that delay. Still, a large-scale public confirmation of production for the convertible Camaro has yet to be had.
This one is just barely public too - as in not trumpeted. Buried in an announcement about the Buick Regal (a car that has gotten a lot of attention lately) being produced at GM's Oshawa plant was a line about the Camaro Convertible being produced there as well.
With the way the industry works, there was really no doubt that a successful Camaro wouldn't get a convertible version, but it is still a nice confirmation. Production starts in Quarter 1 of 2011, and GM says Oshawa has been running on "maximum overtime" producing the Camaro. Aftermarket companies you have a little over a left to capture buyers who can't wait for the production model.
